For nearly 140 years, First National Bank and Trust has grown from a small hometown bank founded in 1884 in Long Island, Kansas into a network of five community-focused locations across north central Kansas, always with the same commitment to strengthening our communities.

A hometown bank opens in Long Island
The Culbertson family founds a small bank to serve local farmers on the Kansas plains, the first entry in a very long ledger.
1900s
Banking the seasons
Through drought years and good ones, the bank stays with its farmers, structuring credit around the crop year, not a calendar.
Growth
Five towns, one handshake
The network expands to Phillipsburg, Logan, Smith Center, and Beloit, trading locally as First National Bank and Trust, Smith County Bank, and Solomon Valley Bank.
